Happy New Year,
See You at the Fisharama!!
I always recognize
the new year as having officially begun once I have landed my first
river bass. Some years don't ring in until March, but this new year
rang in for me January 6th, about the earliest I can remember.
That's one of the great things about GRF. I've got about 450
potential fishing partners, many of whom will talk me off the couch
and onto a river in early January. I never used to fish during
winter. Fish don't bite in winter. Right?
Almost right. I was
accompanied by 4 GRFers: Randy (Riverpirate), Jim Nielson, Will (kokosinglover),
and Todd (The General). These guys provided great company on the
river! Despite weather that reached 70 degrees, the fishing was
pretty slow. My theory is that Jim's boat scared them off:

All told, I believe
we ended up with 11 bass between 5 guys. Will caught a shoal bass
that weighed a couple pounds to take big fish honors and I was able
to ring in the new year with these three bass:

New Year's Largemouth. This little
guy nailed a big, black spinnerbait.

This one hit a little bitty white
spinnerbait.

My first shoal bass of '07! Not a
bad one either!!
On another note, GRF
will have a booth at both the 2007 Georgia Wildlife Federation
Fisharama in
Atlanta (February 2-4) and in
Perry
(February 9-11). Hope to see everybody there!!
